Christian Deism - Is It Christian? Deism? Or Something Else?

Having come across the web sites of John Lindell who operates a number of Christian Deism websites, I sent him an email bringing his attention to the restoration of the essence of Deism on the American Spirituality web site.  To which Brother John responded: The author has some interesting views.  I doubt that the author has any evidence of being the reincarnation of Thomas Paine.  Also, the author's understanding of deism is incomplete (in my view).  The author's views (gnosticism, reincarnation, allegorical interpretation of scriptures, etc.) are well known. Deists believe that our Creator designed human beings to care for each other.  (See my essay, "Christian Deism:  Religion of the Golden Rule.") Using human observation, experience, and reasoning, a person can discover this from the design of our human nature.  "Happiness" is the satisfaction we feel within ourselves when we live as we are designed to live.  This is not some special knowledge that only a few can discover.

People who portray themselves as modern Deists take the position that they possess a truth that believers in traditional religion fail to understand -- i.e., that truth can be realized strictly by the use of Reason.   Yet, they have no answer when confronted with the vast differences exhibited in the reasoning among intelligent people as explored in the subheading Do Atheists Prove The Deists In Error?   Which means that unless the Deists can begin to explain the great variation in perception and comprehension that exists across the spectrum of those who rely upon Reason, they will remain intellectually irrelevant.  Further, there are some very intelligent minds that function within the confines of what the Deists portray as traditional revealed religion -- and the fact that they see the world differently than the Deist believer or the Atheist unbeliever, only confirms the great differences and variations that exist across the spectrum of men of Reason and Intellect.    Not to understand why intelligent men of Reason perceive the world very differently -- and oft times in reverse of each other -- indicates the existence of a great void in the person's use of reasoning, that the alleged use of reason itself becomes an obstacle to achieving an enlightened understanding.   God is the most Intelligent and Rational Force in all of Creation -- that there is a reason and a cause for all things, means that until one comes to understand why men of Reason perceive the world differently, then the use of Reason alone cannot be set forth as a viable solution to traditional faith-based religion.

While the Deists openly claim extraordinary thinkers such as Einstein as their own (see Einstein's Belief In God), they ignore conclusions of his superior reasoning skills.  Shortly after his 50th birthday, Einstein gave an interview during which someone asked him, "Do you believe in God?" Einstein responded, "I'm not an atheist. I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. The problem involved is too vast for our limited minds. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see the universe marvelously arranged and obeying laws but only dimly understand these laws".

What is the solution to the dilemma raised by Einstein?   It is not until we begin to resolve the riddle of why the biblical authors condemned all sects based upon "human opinion" and organic reasoning (see The Spiritual Diaspora), that the answer to the dilemma begins to emerge and bestow clarity on a reality that has immersed mankind in a sea of intellectual conflict and absolute confusion.   How does man overcome what Einstein portrays as an intellectual dilemma that "...is too vast for our limited minds?"   Does it matter that we do "...not understand the languages in which the [scriptures] are written?"   And while the Deists proclaim that they alone possess the solution to the dilemma, men of Reason recognize their intellectual impotence as demonstrated by their irrelevance of not being able to even begin to offer an explanation with respect to offering a reasonable solution to the problems raised by Einstein and the Conflict of Reason (see Do Atheists Prove The Deists In Error? ).   While the Deists claim to recognize the pervasiveness of The Laws of Nature And Nature's God, Einstein is correct in his assertion that mankind dwells in the abyss of confusion because he "...sees the universe marvelously arranged and obeying laws but only dimly understand these laws".     In exploration of the conceptional positions raised by Einstein, the time has arrived for men of Reason to move beyond the dilemma of empty rhetoric that offers no real tangible answers -- and therefore I offer my below reply to John Linddell who I quote in the opening of this article, and runs the Christian Deism ministry and web sites:
Greetings Brother John:

For the record, while it is true that my soul also lived as Jacob the Brother of Jesus, as well as Thomas Paine and others throughout history, this bit of soul-history is only to make you aware of the perspective that is being presented to you.   In quoting the Age Of Reason: "It is a contradiction in terms and ideas, to call anything a revelation that comes to us at second-hand, either verbally or in writing. Revelation is necessarily limited to the first communication -- after this, it is only an account of something which that person says was a revelation made to him; and though he may find himself obliged to believe it, it cannot be incumbent on me to believe it in the same manner; for it was not a revelation made to me, and I have only his word for it that it was made to him."

Since my claims as to who I lived as in the past is from your perspective second hand revelation, then you would be a fool to accept such a claim on face value.   Yet, for me to say to you that I am merely expressing my personal opinion based upon gravely misleading book-knowledge, would be a deceptive lie.   What I write about cannot be found in any books -- and throughout most of history, has been declared to be heresy by the Church.   But in view of the fact that you have attempted to present to your readers the meaning of the Gospels -- some of which I either authored the original, or personally knew others who also authored original versions of the Gospels -- and you have also attempted to present to your readers an interpretation of the writings of Thomas Paine -- setting forth a religion which you portray as Christian Deism (seehttp://ChristianDeism.com/ ).   To the degree that you request donations to support your work with respect to your personal reinterpretation of important works that I authored in previous lifetimes -- important teachings that you misrepresent in your dogmatic philosophical positions -- and for this reason, the very Laws have moved me to respond back to you.   Since as a Deist you should understand the Law of Cause and Effect, if I failed to respond to you in the endeavor to portray your positions in the Light of Higher Reasoning, then I would myself be held accountable to those Laws.

In the article entitled: Could Thomas Paine Do What The Apostle Paul Said Was Impossible, I establish the fact that Thomas Paine considered the written text of the scriptures to be allegorical -- i.e., meaning, to cloak a deeper spiritual truth beneath the allegorical text which Paul portrayed as the "letter that killeth [and] Jewish folktales" (see Shackled In The Abyss Of Absolute Ignorance).   And in the same way that the later Church totally misunderstands Paul's condemnation of the ritual observance of the Law of Moses, unless you understand why Thomas Paine rejected the literal interpretation of the scriptures, then you can never come to understand either the objectives of his writings, or the true depth and objectives of the essence of Deism.

From the perspective of Reason, if there was no means to Prove the Truth, then the Deist perspective is merely another unproved opinion that may or may not have any basis in fact.   Using Thomas Paine's own position as stated in the above, if God did not enlighten the faith-based Theist to that rationale expressed by Deists, then they are right to reject said position.   And this is why most Atheists and intellectual Christians reject your assertions based upon the arguments of Reason.   In fact, unless you understand the reason why Thomas Paine portrayed the scriptures as allegorical, then all the Deist arguments for the use of reason all collapse on the dung heap of countless unproven and for the most part worthless opinions.   Which when properly analyzed using Reason, what you would be promoting would best be portrayed as "Revealed Deism".

From the perspective of one who has composed scriptures (declared to be heresy by the later Church who corrupted the Gospels [see http://BibleCorruption.com ]), the scriptures were intentionally written so that only an idiot (in the words of the Church Father Origen) would believe the literal text -- to the degree that inconsistencies were intentionally written into the text (see Inconsistencies) -- along with blatant historical errors and frauds -- so that intelligent readers would reject the validity of the literal text -- and seek out the deeper meaning.   Which means that the use of Reason, in contradistinction to blind belief, is an important part of the very purpose and objective of the scriptures.   And all of these truths are all presented in the article The Key Of Knowledge (see http://KeyOfKnowledge.org ).   In fact, the reason that Jesus condemned the leaders of the Jews as being blind guides who were leading the people in the wrong direction, was because they had thrown away The Key Of Knowledge.   And throughout my writings I lay the same charge of fraud against the leaders of the Christians -- as well as virtually all traditional (revealed) religions, because each has also thrown away The Key Of Knowledge.

In view of this fact, let me pose the question: Wouldn't it be cruel of Jesus to condemn the religious authorities as frauds and scammers, if it was beyond their ability to understand and apply what he portrayed as the Key of Knowledge?   I would say that if Jesus condemned the leaders of the Jews for something that was beyond their ability to rectify, then Jesus was himself a cruel fraud.   And the fact that the leaders of the Christian Church have knowingly followed in the footsteps of those who Jesus condemned, is a cruel victimization of the congregation of believers.   Which also means that if I ignore what you promote with respect to your reinterpretation of both the Gospels and the Deist based writings of Thomas Paine, then that would make me a part of the hoax and fraud that is being perpetrated upon the people.

There is a Divine Design that is written in the Language of the Soul with which all of Creation is composed in.   The authors of the scriptures were dependent upon the wise observant men of reason to be able to decipher this language based upon what they observed in the world, to learn this Language which the Laws of Nature used to compose the images that have been set before us when you look out at the world, and then apply this Language to perceive and understand the true meaning of the scriptures that lay preserved and concealed beneath the allegorical text of the written text.    And it is this application of the scriptures by turning them within one's own self that is portrayed as the Key of Knowledge that reveals to the seeker the Laws and Forces of Mind and Being -- the knowledge and application of which, then enables the seeker to gain entrance through the higher soul to the Kingdom that Jesus declared could be entered by "opening and unloosing the mind" (see http://GateOfEden.com ) -- which then enables the seeker to learn directly from God (see The True Prophet).   Thus, bypassing the error of "priestcraft" that seeks to enslave the people for their own monetary and political gain.

Men of higher Reason who understand the reality of the Natural Laws, will comprehend why the immature minds of believers are drawn to the literal message of the Gospels.   By design the scriptures act as catalysts which invoke Laws within the mind of the believer to connect them to their inner source of being -- and this process has been inhibited by the dogma of "priestcraft" that keeps them carnal and earth-bound in their thinking -- thus, remaining in an immature state of advancement.   And it is what Jesus portrayed as the application of The Key Of Knowledge that enabled them to bring about the intended Heightening And Expansion Of Mind that brought about the intended higher development of Reason, Knowledge, Intellect that has the potential to free them from the shackles and depths of carnal ignorance promoted under the umbrella of the Church.   In the same way that an immature child can't think and reason in the manner of a mature adult, merely telling the faith-based Theists to use their God-Given Gift of Reason to understand what is beyond their organic comprehension, is a worthless endeavor (see  Could Thomas Paine Do What The Apostle Paul Said Was Impossible.    Yet, while they have attempted to ignore the implications, their own Gospels condemn and reject those believers who throw away the Key of Knowledge (see The Third Fatal Mistake - Not Proving The Truth) -- which provides the person of Reason the facility to begin to nudge open the door of higher understanding to those who Paul portrayed as too carnal to grasp the true meaning of the Gospel -- i.e., “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes in Christ (1 Cor 3:1 NAS).   With Paul further explaining that what is known as the testimony of Jesus Christ and him crucified is the "milk" of the Gospel -- meant for entry-level believers who have only begun their journey in TheWay -- wherein Paul warns:  I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal (1 Cor 3:2).

Perhaps you would do well to learn about the higher application of The Laws Of Nature And Nature's God as set forth in American Spirituality, and since you also claim to be Christian, if you fail to understand the proper application of The Key Of Knowledge, then you consign yourself to being what is portrayed as a "blind guide" who leads others in the wrong direction.  That the dogma of "priestcraft" has absolutely nothing in common with the original teachings and objectives of the Gospel, has since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi Library become a matter of factual historical record -- i.e., Dead Sea Scroll expert A. Powell Davies professed: “Biblical scholars were not disturbed by what they found in the Dead Sea Scrolls because they had known all along that the origin of Christianity was not what was commonly supposed to have been”. (see Christ Before Jesus).   And this same article proves the assertion of Deists that the Gospels were corrupted by the later Church, and demonstrates that Jesus was a man who became the Anointed (Messiah/Christ) at his baptism in the Jordan (see TheTenWords.com ).

GodSpeed in TheWay,

Thomas Paine Redux
In the pre-Nicene Church (325AD) there existed a body of mature Christians who could easily explain all spiritual concepts presented in the Gospel accounts.   These early Christians never relied upon (blind) faith, because they possessed sure Spiritual Knowledge.  This enlightened core of Spiritual Christians understood that God is the most Rational and Intelligent Force in all of Creation -- that there is a reason, a causal factor, and even a higher purpose for all events that transpire in this world -- and these Spiritually Mature Christians knew and comprehended all important reasons for every concept set forth in the Gospel teachings.   But this enlightened intellect of the core body of Spiritual Christians presented a serious threat to the political leaders, and they were hunted down as heretics and murdered.

A wise man knows that history perpetually repeats itself -- and in the same way that it was said of Mao's Cultural Revolution that "Many intellectuals were sent to rural labour camps, and many of those who survived left China shortly after the revolution ended. Many survivors and observers suggest that almost anyone with skills over that of the average person was made the target of political 'struggle' in some way".   In much the same way the Nicene Church was taken over by Pagan Rome, and the whole body of Spiritually Mature Christians were hunted down as heretics in order to silence all opposition to Imperial Rule over the Church and its ordained manmade doctrines of belief (see Atheists Never Exposed To Original Gospel Teachings).   To the degree that neither the faith-based body of believers, or their non-believing critics, have any idea that one of the primary objectives of the Original Gospel Teachings is as a true System Of Education And Enlightenment.    To the degree that from the perspective of man's higher reality, his present systems of education do more to inhibit genuine knowledge and the development of man's intellect, than to nurture and foster man's ultimate intellectual development and spirituality maturity.

Quoting the article An Inconvenient Truth"...the scriptures are exactly what the original authors intended them to be.   And if we then pose the question: What are the implications of this fact?   While you may have read and even studied countless opinions of scriptural interpretation and commentary -- and you may have even undergone the formal study of the scriptures yourself -- but unless you understand how to apply what Jesus portrayed as the Key of Knowledge -- and unless you properly apply the Key of Knowledge in accord with the original intent and objectives which the authors composed these sacred writings -- then your assumptions about the meaning of the scriptures will amount to just one more of the infinite opinions as to just what the scriptures mean."

In the above article I portray the faith-based believers as a type of mule -- a body of believers who are necessary to preserve allegorical scriptures that contain a body of essential truths which if they were able to read literally, they would burn the scriptures as the work of the devil.   But the authors of the scriptures who are obligated to both preserve and conceal this essential body of spiritual knowledge that is beyond the comprehension of the faith-based believers, compose the sacred writings so that those who possess the Key Of Knowledge will be able to retrieve this body of knowledge declared heresy by the pseudo-spiritual leaders of the Church, in order to make this body of spiritual knowledge available to the few who are able to use it.

The Gospel Of Thomas declares: "...But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty"  -- and thus, the only valid application of the scriptures is the knowledge of the Forces and Laws that apply to one's own Cosmology of Mind and Being -- and to apply them within one's own mind and being, in search of the Inner Kingdom (see The Inner Kingdom And The Key Of Knowledge).

Scriptures Written By Mystics Who Were Hunted Down As Heretics: A few facts to consider is that the scriptures were written by Mystics who (1) possessed a Knowledge that the biblical authors portrayed as incomprehensible to the congregation of believers (see Mystery Of The Gospel) -- (2) whose higher spiritual vision of what they portrayed as Essential Truths, was in fact outlawed by the later Roman Church as heresy.   (3) Which threat of death forced the biblical authors to use a special CODE which they portrayed as the Key of Knowledge -- (4) which CODE permitted them to preserve and conceal their Spiritual Truths from the eyes and understanding of the ordinary reader and believer whose Paradigm of Thinking and Mind is totally earth-bound.   And, it must be noted, that if the vast majority of Jews could perceive the the inner meaning of the Torah -- that if the Fundamentalists Christians could perceive the inner meaning of the Gospels -- and if believers, critics and supposed experts alike who only see the letter of the written word, could even for a moment perceive the true inner meaning of the very scriptures they promote or question, they would all equally condemn and reject the Great Truths that were preserved beneath the cloak of the allegorical text which Paul portrayed as "the letter that killeth" -- labeling the meaning as diabolical heresy.   Why?   Because the condition of their mind is carnal and bound by the thinking of this world.   Moreover, because they don't at all understand how to apply what Jesus portrayed as the Key of Knowledge to the scriptures and unlock the true inner spiritual meaning -- and neither are they even prepared to apply the Key of Knowledge to unlock the mysteries of life itself -- they continue to promote what they outwardly condemn and reject as heresy.

Therefore, when confronting the true reality of the scriptures one must first ask themselves: Why would the authors of the scriptures openly write about mysteries that would be incomprehensible to the people?   Mysteries that would invoke the wrath of their religious and secular leaders?   To the degree that throughout most of history they have been hunted down, tortured, perhaps burnt at the stake, and murdered in a most painful manner?   And what is the substance of this body of knowledge that "revealed" religion has relentlessly sought to suppress and destroy.   It is the application of the Law of Nature and Nature's God as they apply to the Forces and Laws of the seekers own Cosmology of Mind that enlightens their Reason and Intellect to the Higher Reality of all the Mysteries of the Soul and Creation -- and thus, overcoming the dilemma noted by Einstein with respect to carnal man's enigma where he "...sees the universe marvelously arranged and obeying laws but only dimly understand these laws".
